"Rain" & "Light"

I've spent my time recently thinking about my antagonists. I like stories in which there aren't plain good guys and bad guys, but better people and worse people. When a slight shift in tone and point-of-view would switch your antags and your protags. Straight up villains are fun, but writing them feels hollow, to me.

How do you like your antagonists?

[TAO] Breathe / Want Do (Rennosuke/Akiku)

Ugh, Daylight Savings Time always throws me off. The clock says it's nearly 2pm, but it doesn't FEEL that late. I wish I could blame DST for all the little abandoned fics on my harddrive... but I can't. What I CAN blame it on is Resident Evil 6, which I finally rented from GameFly. On the other hand I got a hearty laugh at all the over-the-top action scenes, so it's a wash.

How has your week been?

After the World; 071. Fear

It's good to see the comm getting some fic! For me, having the weather warm up (finally!) has helped get me more active. Some decent physical exertion tends to purge my brainspace and let me get some storytelling done.

How has everyone been?

Summary: Max's mother tries to warn him.

Max rubbed bleary eyes and reached for his coffee cup -- empty. His textbook lay open to Chapter I Can't Read Words Anymore, his notes from that morning's class on I Think I'm Losing My Mind propped up next to it. He sniffed the half-empty can of yesterday's energy drink, shrugged, and knocked it back.

He grabbed his phone to check the time -- two missed calls, both from his mother, and an all-caps text: CALL ME IMMEDIATELY. He had only missed the text by a few minutes.

She picked up after the first ring.

This was one of those weeks where I got a decent amount of work done, but have nothing to show for it. World & character building are essential, but bullet points and map sketches don't make a story. I'm also fairly certain I've finally replaced my hemoglobin with caffeine.

How was everyone's week?

Good evening!

I hope everyone's writing this week went better than mine -- my work schedule changed, and the interruption to my sleep schedule left me doing little more than editing old pieces I decided I liked after all.

How about you folks? Anyone get any work done this week?

Hi everyone!

In an attempt to revitalize the community, I've made a couple of changes. The first being that I've removed the limitation on writing for a single setting/universe; you may use the prompts for any original setting or canon you desire.

Secondly, I've updated the table selection with four miniature sized tables; each table has eight prompts as opposed to one-hundred. You may claim a single miniature table in addition to one standard table. You may also claim two mini tables; you may not claim two standard sized tables at once.

Starting next week I will be re-instating the weekly check-in/roundup. This check-in will be posted between Friday and Sunday -- Friday night, more often than not, but I don't always have access so some weeks it will be later.

If you have any questions, please let me know!
